The mission of “Sew Joyfully” is to ignite the imagination of kids and adults, empowering them to transform fabric into fabulous creations. By teaching the timeless art of sewing, I aim to cultivate patience, precision and pride in each of my students.

Through an engaging, hands-on approach, I strive to foster creativity, build confidence , promote problem solving and instill sustainibility so that you discover the joy of upcycling and finding happiness in your own creations.

Learning sewing can be a new friend that will be a part of your own beautiful safe space, where you can never be alone and where you can express your self joyfully.

Year Round sessions

Sewing Classes

Learn the art of sewing from the very beginning.
Our Basic Sewing Classes are designed for students of all ages who want to build practical skills while exploring creativity through fabric. Students will start with the fundamentals of sewing, learning how to handle tools, understand fabrics, and build confidence with simple stitching techniques. Step by step, they will progress to creating small projects that help develop both technical skills and creative expression. Students will learn-

  • Introduction to sewing tools and equipment
  • Understanding fabrics and basic materials
  • Hand stitching techniques
  • Introduction to sewing machines
  • Basic seams and finishing methods
  • Creating simple projects and small accessories
Crochet & Embroidery Classes

Our Basic Crochet Classes are designed for students of all ages who want to learn the relaxing and creative craft of crochet. Whether you are picking up a crochet hook for the first time or looking to build foundational skills, this class offers a welcoming and structured start.

  • Introduction to crochet tools and materials
  • How to hold the crochet hook and yarn
  • Creating foundation chains
  • Basic stitches such as single crochet and double crochet
  • Understanding simple patterns
  • Making small beginner-friendly projects

Founder & Instructor

Umang Segan

Umang Segan is a passionate educator and artist with a deep love for teaching and creating. With a masters in English literature and background in education, she has spent years sharing her knowledge with students of all ages. As a surface design artist and expert in sewing and quilting, Umang teaches a variety of sewing crafts to both adults and children. Her mission is to bring joy and creativity into the lives of young students, helping them develop essential skills in sewing that offer a meaningful outlet for expression. A dedicated mother of two daughters, Umang believes in the power of art to uplift and inspire, providing children with the tools to find joy and comfort through creative endeavors. In addition, she strongly believes in supporting economically disadvantaged newborns by donating baby quilts to Project Linus.
